Sandwich generation

You can fetch the fan. You cannot become her project manager.

Adult children often arrive with a tab storm and a Google degree. Partners get the partner page. This one is for the person who is also raising children, holding a job, and suddenly translating GP letters.

Useful

  • Read Understand once so “menopause” stops meaning “moods”.
  • Offer a lift to the appointment. Sit in the waiting room unless she asks you in.
  • Heat in the house is infrastructure. A fan is love. A TED talk is not.
  • If you hold the money or the forms, ask what she wants named — then stop adding tabs.

Not useful

  • Forwarding “Japanese women don’t get this” threads.
  • Using wellness to talk her out of medical care she wants — or into HRT she does not.
  • Making her the family’s unpaid educator.
  • Diagnosing your own perimenopause in her living room and stealing the hour.

Load is a health input. If you are the sandwich, say so on the work/load essay and the material conditions page. You also get to be a person.
