Voice · steal these

Say it once. Do not explain it twice.

These are not affirmations and not a content strategy. They are Tuesday sentences. Change a word. Date them. If a script needs a TED talk, it is still a yes. How to actually spend the week: the playbook.

How to use any of these in the optimum way: pick one. Send it in writing if you can. Do not stack three nos in one afternoon. If the relationship is unsafe, stop — this library is the wrong door.

1 · The overdue no · a meeting

When. A recurring call that only ever needs you. Week 10. Capacity-first any week.

“I am not available for that. I don’t need a better reason this month. Please take me off the series from Monday.”

Do not say. “I’m so sorry, it’s just a busy season, maybe after the summer.” That books you again.

After. One follow-up if they missed it. Then stop. Diary the hour as a client.

2 · The overdue no · a favour that travels one way

“I can’t take this on. I know it will inconvenience you. I am still not taking it on.”

If they argue. “I already answered.” Then end the thread. Explaining twice is how a no becomes a yes.

3 · One paragraph to an adult

When. Week 5 / 11. Partner, sister, one colleague. Not a group chat.

“The competent version is a lie I am tired of telling. This is the real load this week: [one concrete thing]. I am not asking you to fix it. I am asking you to hear it. Ten minutes is enough.”

Do not. A performance review of the marriage. A 2,000-word history. Forwarding this site as a hint.

If they start solving. “I only need you to hear it today.” Then stop.

Send them If you live with her only if you want them to have it.

4 · The Sunday call (Diaspora)

“This call can have the weather, or five honest minutes. I cannot do both well. Today I am choosing the honest five.”

„Azi îți spun adevărul în cinci minute. Nu vremea. Sunt bine destul — și obosită. Asta e fraza.”

Do not. Perform “she is fine” for the relatives. Translate your tiredness into a nicer language.

After. One call, not all of them. Next week you can choose weather. That is allowed.

5 · Handing a decision away

When. 23:10 Slack. Capacity-first Work room.

“From Monday this sits with you. If the firm cannot survive that, we need to say so in writing — not at 23:10. I will not be in the thread after 18:00 this month.”

Optimum. Email, not a doorway conversation they can forget. Copy one person who already knows the load.

Do not. Take it back on Tuesday because they looked worried.

6 · The hour in the diary

“This hour is a client. I will not move it for a request that could wait until Thursday.”

Put a name on the calendar others can see: “Protected — do not book.” If you cannot tell work, tell one person at home.

7 · Empty House · the shrine-room

“This room is no longer a project about them. I am changing one object this month. I am not throwing anyone away. I am not pretending they still live here.”

Optimum. One object. Photograph it if you need the memory. Do not empty the house in a weekend as a dare.

Do not accept. A hobby offered as a cure. “You should join a choir.” Decline: “Not as a cure. I will tell you if I want company.”

8 · Empty House · the standing order

“The money that used to leave with them: I am dating a stop on [date]. I will not automatically refill an account nobody uses.”

This is not investment advice. It is a sentence about a transfer you already understand. If you cannot stop it, write why. That sentence is the week.

9 · Where you will be old (Diaspora · Meaning)

“I need to say this before the next flight: I will visit. I do not know that I will come back to live. Those are different sentences. I wanted you to hear both.”

„Voi veni în vizită. Nu știu că mă voi întoarce să trăiesc. Sunt fraze diferite.”

Tell one person. Secrecy is how postponement stays polite.

10 · Work · the next-role sentence

“The next third of working life, if I am honest: [one sentence]. There is no next role yet — that is also a complete sentence.”

Show it to one unflattering adult, or keep it on the map. Not a LinkedIn refresh. Not a resignation letter unless that is already true. Employers: Midlife @ Work is their invoice, not yours.

11 · To HR / a manager (you, not the board’s map)

“I do not need you to diagnose me. I need [one adjustment: later start / fewer late Slacks / a quiet hour]. If the organisation wants a workplace plan, the door is Midlife @ Work — that is not my homework.”

Do not sell Sprint for them. Send the URL if they asked. You are not the consultant.

12 · GP visit (language, not a protocol)

“I am not here for a personality. What is new: [three symptoms, dated]. What I want from ten minutes: to be heard, and the next test or referral if you think I need one. I am not asking you to start or stop HRT in this sentence.”

Pack the page with The Visit and, if you have it, the Method Passport. Horizon will not advise on HRT.

13 · Capacity-first · no vision this week

“I am not adding a vision on an empty tank. One recovered hour is the whole assignment.”

Say it to yourself, then to anyone offering a makeover.

14 · If they push the competent version

“I know I look fine. That is the problem I am describing.”

Once. Then stop. You do not have to win the argument.

15 · Partner · you, speaking to them

“I don’t need a project manager. I need one hour that stays mine, and ten minutes of hearing without a solution.”

Their page: If you live with her.

16 · The week that holds everyone but you

When. A parent’s appointment, a teenager, and your name in pencil at the bottom of a list. The load is not only hormones. It is who lingers.

“I am still the diary for [parent / child]. My name goes back on the list this week, in pen: [one hour]. I am not abandoning anyone. I am stopping the pretence that I am infinite.”

Name them on Who is actually in it. One hour. Not a makeover of the family.

How to send (optimum)

  1. Write it in the week box or an email draft. Sleep if you can.
  2. Send to one person. Not a family WhatsApp.
  3. Do not explain it twice. If they need the page, send the partner sitting or this URL.
  4. Date it on the January page or Time room.
